Trojan Football Dominates Thursday Night Home Game

The McDowell varsity football team scored quickly and never looked back in its 63-6 rout of Erie High in a special Thursday night game Sept. 17 at McDowell.

The Royals’ started with the ball for the game, but it was the Trojans’ defense and special teams that did the first scoring of the night. A blocked punt was recovered for a game-opening score by Domenic Bonyai, quickly followed by an interception return for a TD by Emory Moffett.

A Taylor Lincoln touchdown catch soon followed to put the Trojans ahead 21-0 after the first quarter. Lincoln added a second TD reception in the second quarter from quarterback Evan Kuhn to add to his monster night of seven catches for 145 yards.

McDowell continued finding the end zone to lead 49-0 at the half. That run also included rushing scores by Chase Carrick and AJ Tarasovitch plus a fumble recovery returned for a score by big man Braylon Murel.

Deonte Flemings leapt up and hauled in a TD catch in the third quarter, while Robbie Grygier capped the night with a 71-yard scoring run.

The Trojans (3-1) head to Boardman (Ohio) next Friday, Sept. 25.
